Additional quakes recorded across Negros
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) two minor earthquakes, which occured within 25 minutes of each other, shook Guimaras last Thursday.
The first tremor measured 2.4 in magnitude and struck east of Jordan around 10:40 a.m. The second one, measuring 2.1 in magnitude, had an epicenter pinpointed east of Buenavista, and occured around 11:05 a.m.
Phivolcs reported no damage resulting from the quakes and, with both typically classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, very few are expected to have even felt the tremor.
Meanwhile, after five earthquakes were recorded across Negros last Tuesday, a 2.6-magnitude was quake was recorded last Wednesday evening in the waters off Siaton, Negros Oriental; while a 2.4-magnitude tremor shook Victorias City, Negros Occidental yesterday afternoon.
Much like the Guimaras quakes, the ones that struck Negros are also a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale./WDJ
