A school building was destroyed, while several homes were damaged, after a tornado touched down yesterday at Purok Everlasting in Barangay Malaiba, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.

Based on a report by the Canlaon City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO), they received a call around 9:11 a.m. claiming a structure needed to be cleared away as it had reportedly been swept up by a tornado.

Upon arrival, personnel immediately cleared the area of the structure, which turned out to be part of a school and was blocking a pathway leading to several residential structures and other school buildings.

The makeshift building was destroyed, while several homes in the area suffered minor damage.

No injuries were reported./DGB, WDJ
