Trillanes denied by Makati RTC (based on SC rules)

“…You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine…” –Titus 2:1

The decision aims to be unshaken – the denial issued by the Makati City Regional Trial Court-Branch 50 rejecting a motion by the Department of Justice (DOJ) calling for the arrest and ordering a departure hold on Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, who was earlier stripped of amnesty by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Why do I say the decision “aims to be unshaken?” The presiding judge, the Honorable Elmo Alameda, based his decision on the former naval officer concurrently disputing the revocation before the Supreme Court.

The fact is, there are a lot of cases decided by the Supreme Court that found, when there are similar cases pending before the lower courts or a quasi-judicial agencies of government, it serves the lower court best to refrain from acting on such cases. This is called “forum shopping” (also referred to as “litis pendentia” and “judicial courtesy”). It is because of this rule that, in the meantime, Trillanes is “safe” from arrest.

Aside from pronouncements by Jesus in John 8, where he confirmed, in no uncertain manner, that He is “I Am,” or the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we can see that He made the same claims that He, Jesus, is God the Father, in John 14.

In John 14, Jesus was talking with His disciples, Thomas and Philip in this case, when Thomas said, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Philip, on the other hand, requested, “Lord, show the Father to us and we will be satisfied.”

Replying to Thomas, Jesus said, “If you know me, you would know my Father too. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.” With regard to Philip’s request, Jesus said, “You have been with me for quite some time now, and yet you still don’t know me, Philip? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. Why are you saying ‘show to us the Father’?”

Indeed, there is no mistaking what Jesus meant. He is God the Father and because the disciples already saw Him (Jesus), they already saw the Father; and because the disciples already knew Jesus, they already know the Father, too. It cannot be doubted, on the basis of these statements, that Jesus was saying He is indeed God the Father.
