Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. led groundbreaking and inauguration events yesterday for Department of Agriculture projects in La Castellana and Pontevedra. Both undertakings are part of the department’s Philippine Rural Development Project.
The groundbreaking took place in La Castellana’s Barangay Robles, where over P14 million will go towards the rehabilitation of a piggery building and construction of a feed mill. According to a release by the provincial government, the project is expected to benefit “more than a thousand households.”
Meanwhile, the governor led the inauguration of a 3.3-kilometer farm-to-market road from Barangays Gomez to Zamora in Pontevedra, which cost over P48 million.
The road was completed last June and is said to benefit 435 households./WDJ
