Senator Joseph Victor ‘JV’ Ejercito, who served as guest of honor yesterday for the blessing of a newly-renovated area of the Silay Public Market, committed to acquiring additional investment in order to fund renovations for other portions of the market, along with the Silay Public Plaza.

Silay City Mayor Mark Golez, who said the senator was the one who facilitated funding for the wet market renovation, asked Ejercito for P19 million for the additional projects.

Ejercito said Golez needed to prepare and submit a “program of works” before allocations for the proposed projects could be sought.

Meanwhile, the senator said fast-tracking infrastructure projects is a way to reduce the impact of the high inflation the country is currently experiencing.

“We have to expedite so that the multiplier effect of the big construction projects will produce job opportunities and stimulate economic growth,” he explained./DGB, WDJ
