A 60-year-old man was found dead yesterday afternoon in what police believe was the result of a suicide in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City.
Police have requested not to identify the victim.
Police Station 10 commander, Police Chief Inspector Charles Gever, said they received a call from the victim’s neighbor claiming they heard a gunshot from the victim’s residence.
When police arrived, the residents had already found the victim’s lifeless remains after reported shooting himself in the stomach.
Gever said they immediately contacted scene of the crime operatives in order to thoroughly investigate the incident.
In a statement by the victim’s helper, identified as Joselito Gerola, he said the victim was suffering from tuberculosis and had been rushed to a hospital a few days before the incident.
Police have yet to officially determine why the victim took his own life, although police ruled out foul play and believe the victim may also have been suffering from depression due to his illness./DGB, WDJ
