Around 275 individuals are expected to participate in a nationwide candle-lighting event today at the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) main office along Gonzaga Street in Bacolod City.
121 electricity cooperatives across the country are expected to take part in the event, which begins at 6:00 p.m., commemorating the National Electrification Administration’s National Electrification Awareness Month observance.
Ceneco Member-Consumer Integrated Services Division chief Roel Venus explained the 275 represents the number of sitios Ceneco serves.
In addition to the candle-lighting, Ceneco will also conduct a tree-planting and line clearing in Don Salvador Benedicto that morning.
Venus said a pledge of commitment will also be signed, which will be used to lobby Congress to provide for funding for the sitio electrification program./DGB, WDJ
