Hinoba-an police filed murder charges against a 25-year-old man after he allegedly hacked and killed his mother late Thursday night in the town’s Barangay Asia.
Police identified the fatality as 36-year-old Erlinda Dahildahil, a resident of the said area; meanwhile, Dahidahil’s live-in partner, 35-year-old Arjie Sanchez, was also wounded in the incident.
Hinoba-an municipal police chief, Police Senior Inspector Jerry Nacion, said, prior to the incident, Dahidahil reportedly left her son, Argie Dahildahil, and her common law husband to live with Sanchez.
Nacion said her decision may have infuriated her son, who immediately visited Sanchez’ place of residence.
When the son arrived, he immediately hacked his mother, striking her several times; along with assaulting Sanchez.
The suspect’s father and several barangay tanods later visited the area and tried to pacify the suspect; however, Dahildahil was already dead when they arrived.
Sanchez, meanwhile, was rushed to the town’s district hospital for treatment.
Nacion added, the assailant surrendered to police when they arrived, who were able to recover the bladed weapon allegedly used in the attack.
The suspect is detained at the Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station./DGB, WDJ
