Dumaguete Airport reopened to commercial air traffic yesterday, almost 24 hours after an aircraft suffered a tire burst.
Airport Manager Mark Diamodem said operations at the aerodrome resumed at 6:00 a.m. after aircraft ground personnel successfully moved the damaged Airbus A320 off the runway.
He noted, a thorough inspection was also carried out in order to remove any debris left during the incident.
Last Tuesday, a Philippine Airlines Airbus A320 suffered a tire burst shortly after landing.
All 121 passengers and crew disembarked safely following the incident, however, several subsequent flights in and out of Dumaguete were canceled.
The involved aircraft is now being repaired, while Philippine Airlines said they will be conducting an investigation into the incident./DGB, WDJ
