Dumaguete Airport was closed to air traffic yesterday after an aircraft suffered a technical problem while on the runway.
Based on an advisory issued by Philippine Airlines, flight PR2541, a 156-seater Airbus A320, suffered a tire burst around 6:42 a.m. shortly after landing at the said airport.
All 121 passengers and crew disembarked safely following the incident.
In response, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines spokesperson Eric Apolonio said local airport authorities decided to close the airport until they can remove the aircraft from the runway, along with any other debris.
The incident has also forced Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific to cancel flights to Dumaguete City yesterday./DGB, WDJ
