The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) response cluster recently met in Quezon City to discuss the ongoing response effort to storms that have impacted Luzon and the Visayas.
The response cluster, which will closely monitor relief efforts and assistance, was activated after the NDRRM Operations Center raised their alert status to “Red” over the weekend,
The group is comprised of representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government; Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration; Department of Education; Department of Health; Office of Civil Defense; Armed Forces of the Philippines; Bureau of Fire Protection; Philippine National Police; Philippine Coast Guard; along with various regional DRRMCs.
Last month, amid severe storms, the Negros Occidental Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) ordered the monitoring of major rivers and tributaries. Around the same time, the Bacolod City DRRMO, likewise, advised the monitoring of main rivers in the city./WDJ
