On its 6th year, the Victorias Milling Company Foundation, in collaboration with Victorias Milling Company, Inc. (VMC) has set its 6th Interschool Art Competition in September.
This year’s on-the-spot painting competition is open to all elementary and secondary student-artists all over Negros Island anchored on the theme, “Evolution.”
The theme aims to drive the value of growth and development over time for individuals and entities.
The Elementary category covers grades 1 to 6 while the Secondary Category covers grades 7 to 12, or including Senior High students.
Students are required to submit sample artworks online from which 20 qualifiers per category will be selected to join the on-the-spot competitions on September 22 in Dumaguete City for Negros Oriental qualifiers and on September 29 in Bacolod City from the Negros Occidental schools.
This annual search has become a platform to discover and hone talents of student artists through on-the-spot competitions and the subsequent art summer workshops where finalists get to be mentored by professional artists in various art media, its release said.
VMC first launched the art competition in 2013 as part of its thrust to restore and enhance the arts and culture awareness in Negros and promote the company’s vision and values through the creativity of the young.
As VMC celebrates its centennial celebration in 2019, it hopes to drive the message to all, particularly to the young, that there should always be that constant desire to improve one’s self; not to be content with their current capabilities, but to always strive to become better versions of themselves.
Interested students may register and download the forms and mechanics at www.victoriasmilling.com.
Deadline for submission of sample artworks is on September 9, 2018.
