Victim reportedly crossed the street abruptly

A man believed to be suffering from mental illness was killed yesterday morning after he was run over by a pickup truck in front of the Bacolod North Terminal in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.

Police have yet to identify the victim but described him as being 4’7” in height, between the ages of 17 and 20 years old, and wearing a violet-colored shirt with white shorts.

Police Station 3 (PS3) Traffic investigators said the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Harley Dwaine Cupang, was driving towards Talisay City when the victim suddenly crossed the road.

The force of the impact damaged the front part of the pickup truck, while eyewitness accounts said the victim fly a few feet in the air before being run over by Cupang’s vehicle.

Cupang immediately surrendered to PS3 after the incident and was temporarily detained at the station.

The suspect may face charges of vehicular manslaughter if the victim’s family surfaces and decides to file the charges./DGB, WDJ
