LTO open to police officers to serve as traffic enforcers

Dumaguete City Police Office director, Police Senior Superintendent Jonathan Pineda, recently urged the local community to participate in the effort to prevent criminality.

He explained, the police cannot solve crimes on their own and need the community to provide information regarding the location and identity of perpetrators.

The call was made as part of Police Community Relations Month, which was observed throughout July.

Meanwhile, the Dumaguete City Land Transportation Office (LTO) confirmed their willingness to have police officers serve as traffic enforcers, but noted, they must complete a three-day refresher course.

LTO-Dumaguete head Alberta Janine Lawas said she is currently waiting on Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office director, Police Senior Superintendent Raul Tacaca for the go-ahead regarding the refresher course.

“My target right now is to really push the deputation of PNP officers and I am doing that right now,” she asserted./WDJ
