According to the Aklan Provincial Health Office, the province is already experiencing an increase in dengue cases, with a 29 percent rise recorded between January 1 and July 22, and it could continue to go up.

The provincial office said the ongoing rainy season could contribute to more cases.

A total of 696 cases have been recorded throughout Aklan this year, with 156 in Kalibo alone.

There have also been two deaths in the province associated with dengue this year.

Earlier this month, the Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) said the number of dengue cases this year has dropped in the city by 40.7 percent as compared to 2017.

CHO Environment and Sanitation Division head, Dr. Grace Tan, said, based on data gathered between January 1 and June 23, they have recorded a total of 278 cases as compared to last year’s 469./WDJ
