Newly-elected Bacolod City Liga ng mga Barangay president, Taculing Barangay Captain Lady Gles Gonzales, said she plans on turning her barangay into a “model” community through implementation of RA 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, along with the city’s “no segregation, no collection” policy.

The local Liga official said she has already spoken with Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who heads the Solid Waste Action Team; IPM-Construction and Development Corporation, the city’s current waste management contractor; and the Barangay Solid Waste Committee regarding the matter.

Gonzales said is also scheduled to meet with homeowners association presidents and purok presidents of her barangay.

Earlier this year, Familiaran said five percent of Bacolod City was complying with the city’s waste segregation order.

He also pointed out, Barangays 8, 13, 38, Taculing, Villamonte, and Singcang Airport had already been reported to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources./DGB, WDJ
