SJI-A, San Carlos City-A win

San Carlos City-A recently won the 14U boys division of the Hua Ming Golden Jubilee D-League Volleyball Invitational at the St. John’s Institute (SJI) covered court, while SJI-A won the 14U girls title.
San Carlos City-A won the championship by defeating Cadiz City 25-15, 17-25, 25-18, 25-20. In the consolation game, Sipalay City beat San Carlos City-B 18-25, 25-13, 25-20.
On the girls’ side, SJI-A triumphed after beating Living Stones International School 25-18, 17-25, 25-14, 25-18. Calvary Pontevedra, meanwhile, took third after defeating De La Salle Santiago Zobel (DLSZ) 21-25, 25-16, 25-21.
San Carlos City nearly dominated the individual honors with Eladio Jayawon named MVP, Stephen Enee named best middle blocker, Kent Contiga – best setter, Niño Ortega – best server, and Jose Miguel Tramocha – best libero. Among other awards, Cadiz City’s Marion Delina was named best outside hitter and Sipalay City’s Jerome Granada took best opposite hitter.
On the girls’ side, SJI-A won three awards with Lorien Gamboa named MVP, Natalie Escares as best setter, and Julianah Severino taking best libero; while DLSZ took two through Blessing Webb winning best outside hitter and Riane Cortez taking best middle blocker. Among other awards, Aya Garvillo of Living Stones International School won best opposite hitter and Mrytle Escallar of Calvary Pontevedra claimed best server./JSG, WDJ
