Robert ‘Toto’ Landero of Pontevedra lost his International Boxing Organization (IBO) world minimumweight title fight over the weekend in Mthatha, South Africa to South African boxer Simphiwe Khonco via unanimous decision.
The loss was a surprise to the Filipino boxer as he had sent Khonco to the canvas at one point in the fight.
This was his second title fight loss after losing a World Boxing Association world minimumweight title fight to Thammanoon Niyomtrong of Thailand earlier this year.
Following the loss, Landero’s record stands at 10 wins (two knockouts), three losses, and two draws./JSG, WDJ
