The Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) recently distributed educational assistance to 70 street kids from all seven city districts, who each received P2,000.
“This is your chance to work for brighter future,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
CSWDO Children and Youth focal person Merlyn Gison explained social workers and district coordinators will closely monitor student performance.
“It’s our primary duty to check if they have complied with at least 85 percent school attendance,” she said. “If there are some problems, we call the parent’s attention.”
“It’s their responsibility to take charge of their children,” the CSWDO officer added.
Last June, assistance was extended to 87 street kids, who each received P1,700./WDJ
