During a recent Nutrition Month event in La Carlota City, Mayor Luis Jalandoni III discussed the city’s history of combating malnutrition and promoting children’s health.
“If we nourish and love our children today, we can be assured that our future is safe in their hands,” the mayor said. “Our [city] and the private sector have to join hands and go forward in the march towards fighting malnutrition.”
He added, the city has been prioritizing such platforms for over two decades.
Earlier this month, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Nona Tad-y called on La Carlota City residents, along with schools, to plant more fruits and vegetables in an effort to promote healthier lives and combat malnutrition.
She noted, the city is currently running into problems associated with low fruit and vegetable consumption, which leads to insufficient micronutrient intake. Micronutrients are said to help in growth and development, along with maintaining overall health.
“If we plant the seeds of love and compassion, they will grow like the green trees that will ultimately save human race,” Jaladoni
