PAGASA: Enhanced monsoon conditions over the Western Visayas

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) yesterday issued a warning for Western Visayas residents over the southwest monsoon brought about by Tropical Depression “Henry.”

Based on information provided by the weather bureau, the enhanced southwest monsoon will bring rains across the Western Visayas, including Negros Occidental, and warned of possible flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.

Fishermen and small seacrafts were also advised of moderate to rough sea conditions.

As of press time, the storm was last located 415 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph), with gusts up to 65 kph.

The storm is moving west at 25 kph and expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility today./DGB, WDJ
