Two wounded in Cauayan shooting

Two individuals were wounded following a late Thursday afternoon shooting incident at a port in Barangay Bulata, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the victims as 19-year-old Jomer Ortaliza and 28-year-old Benancio Mahilum, both residents of Purok 4 in the said barangay.

Based on an official report issued by Cauayan police, the two were cleaning when they were allegedly shot by security guards Ricardo Pregata of Valladolid and Wilbert Gadayan of Sipalay City.

The victims called for the guards to stop shooting, but they continued, forcing Ortaliza and Mahilum to flee.

Both were later rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City.

Ortaliza sustained gunshot wounds to the mouth and left fingers, while Mahilum was shot in both legs and the right arm.

The suspects, meanwhile, are still at large./DGB, WDJ
