A man was found dead late Thursday night while he was sleeping in Barangay Banquerohan, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the fatality as 44-year-old Jose Tanjay, a resident of Barangay Tiglawigan in the said city.
Cadiz City Police Station investigators said they received a phone call from concerned citizens regarding a shooting incident.
Based on witness interviews, they claimed to have heard a gunshot from where Tanjay was last spotted, who was drunk at the time. Residents visited the area to investigate and found the suspect, Randy Bagaforo, standing in front of them.
When they asked about the shot they heard, the suspect replied “it’s just a nosebleed,” referring to the victim being hit on the left side of his face.
Tanjay was rushed to the city’s emergency clinic, where he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Bagaforo, meanwhile, was arrested in a follow-up operation by police, although they have yet to establish a motive behind the shooting./DGB, WDJ
