The Victorias City police recovered an abandoned pile of allegedly illegally-acquired lumber Wednesday afternoon at Hacienda Siding 1 in the city’s Barangay 14.

Based on information provided by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, police were conducting a routine patrol in the area when they made the discovery.

Police recovered three pieces of marang lumber, ranging between 18 to 30 feet in length; along with four pieces of gemelina lumber, ranging between 20 to 35 feet.

Cops also questioned local residents in an effort to identify the men who owned the seized lumber, although no leads could be determined.

The recovered lumber was turned over to the Victorias City Environment and Natural Resources Office.

An investigation is ongoing./DGB, WDJ
