Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia is currently looking for an officer-in-charge to run the Department of Public Services (DPS) after current DPS head, Engr. Noel Garaygay, announced plans to vacate the post after his daughter died in a fire over the weekend.
“We know how devastating the experience [was] to him,” the mayor said. “We will try to look for someone who can fill in the position for the meantime.”
Leonardia said he requested staff to compile a shortlist of recommendations, calling DPS “a very critical office for the city.”
DPS was previously in charge of waste management for the city before a private contractor was sought.
IPM Construction and Development Corporation currently handles garbage collection for the city, which the mayor said was a better option than keeping DPS in charge./DGB, WDJ
