A former cop was wounded after he was allegedly shot by his live-in partner yesterday morning in Toboso, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the victim as 55-year-old Leonilo Garcia, a resident of Purok Punta Cruz, Barangay Poblacion of the said town.

Toboso municipal police chief, Police Chief Inspector Joery Puerto, said Garcia was taking a bath when his live-in partner, 52-year-old Merlita Carredo, broke into the bathroom and shot Garcia in the leg with a 9mm pistol.

Garcia immediately ran to the police station seeking help, while Carredo allegedly tried to commit suicide by shooting herself in the chest.

Both Garcia and Carredo were rushed to a hospital after the incident.
