Bacolod City lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya yesterday affirmed flooding along the city’s main roads will “soon be a thing of the past,” attributing his projection to the ongoing flood control project along Lacson Street.
In a statement released by the congressman yesterday, he echoed the recent appeal made by Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) head, Police Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, calling for “understanding” from the public with the ongoing traffic situation.
Gasataya assured, once the project is complete, traffic would be minimized.
He added, the construction is temporary and the benefits of the project will outweigh the current inconvenience.
Earlier this week, Acebuche stated the ongoing project along Lacson Street has caused heavy traffic in the area, alongside ongoing road repair projects, particularly along the Alijis-Mansilingan-Murcia and Taculing roads.
The BTAO head also said he has already coordinated with Department of Public Works and Highways and was informed the repair projects would be completed within the month, while the flood control project would be completed in October./DGB, WDJ
