DOST scholarship open for STEM students

Students in the senior high school science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) strand are eligible to apply for the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Undergraduate Science and Technology (S&T) Scholarship.

According to DOST provincial director, Engr. Allan Francis Daraug, the scholarship looks to hone student skills in science and technology skills, among other related subjects.

Meanwhile, students not enrolled in the STEM strand, but show a high ability in science and mathematics, can apply for the DOST Merit Scholarship. Students must be enrolled in a science and technology program to be eligible.

The scholarships cover tuition, fees, and group insurance; along with providing allowances for books, transportation, living, and post-graduation clothing.

Applications are available at the Negros Occidental Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC), located along Cottage Road in Bacolod City. Forms can also be accessed online at sei.dost.gov.ph.

The deadline for application is August 31, with examinations scheduled for October 21.
