In response to complaints regarding heavy traffic in Bacolod City, Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) head, Police Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, yesterday appealed for understanding.
Acebuche said most of the traffic is caused by the ongoing road repair projects, particularly along the Alijis-Mansilingan-Murcia and Taculing roads.
He added, the ongoing Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control project is also causing traffic along the Lacson Street.
Acebuche said he has already coordinated with DPWH and was informed the repair projects would be completed within the month, while the flood control project would be completed in October.
The BTAO head also said, based on their monitoring, around 93,000 vehicles are traveling in the city, particularly during peak hours.
In order to control the heavy traffic, Acebuche said they have stepped up apprehensions, such as those operating tricycles and E-trikes along national roads, which is prohibited.
Acebuche also said they are considering non-contact apprehensions using the newly-acquired closed-circuit television cameras./DGB, WDJ
