The suspected personal physician for slain drug lord Ramy Poja was arrested late Sunday afternoon by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents along Circumferential Road in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.

Police identified arrested suspects as Dr. Solomon Tan, along with his driver Romanito Lee.

PDEA-Bacolod head, Agent Grace Cruz, said the doctor had been under surveillance and was on the agency’s “target list.”

Cruz said agents moved in after Tan sold a sachet of suspected shabu inside his vehicle.

PDEA agents recovered a total 11 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing around 60 grams, and valued at P408,000.

Agents also recovered a weighing scale, drug paraphernalia, and the P22,000 in marked money.

The local PDEA head also noted, Tan reportedly provided medical treatment for Poja last May, during the drug group leader’s initial encounter with Police Station 3 at Purok Sibucao in Barangay Banago.

Cruz said Tan was among those spotted with Poja prior to police officers and PDEA agents storming Poja’s residence later that afternoon.

However, Tan escaped during the operation.

Cruz added, they are now investigating Tan’s links with Poja, although, she refused to say where the doctor’s supply of shabu originated as they are still monitoring the individual.

Both suspects face charges in violation of Sections 5, 11, and 12 of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Both are detained at Police Station 8./DGB, WDJ
