John Michael Zulueta, originally from Calatrava, captured the Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) minimumweight title over the weekend, defeating Cebu City’s Cris Ganoza via split decision at the Gaisano City Mall in Bacolod City.

The win keeps the Negrense boxer undefeated in his career.

Meanwhile, in the undercard fights, Joeper Montaño of Bago City defeated Danilo Peña of Parañaque City after their fight was stopped in the seventh round, while Ernesto Alera of Murcia beat Marlou ‘Ironman’ Sandoval of Bayawan City via unanimous decision.

The Mayor Bing Leonardia Boxing Development Program also hosted fights across an array of weight classes.

The results of the fights involving Bacolod City boxers include Reniel Bantillo of Granada defeated AJ Daclan of Singcang-Airport in the 22-kilogram weight class, Russel Caciano of Bata defeated Carl Jon Sornido of Singcang-Airport and Benidict Esmolo of Singcang-Airport defeated Rommel Bantillo of Granada in the 26-kilogram weight class, Kynrich Monteclaro of Bata defeated Michael Salosada of Barangay 39 in the 29-kilogram weight class, Jonas Tobongbanua defeated Reymark Calago in the 37-kilogram weight class, James Marter of Barangay 39 defeated Jericho Villarias of Singcang-Airport and Joselito Jabillana of Barangay 39 defeated Jay Barredo of Singcang-Airport in the 44-kilogram weight class, Niko Quiocson of Cauayan defeated Ricky delos Santos of Handumanan and Joshua Belizena of Barangay 39 defeated Jonel Francisco of Murcia in the 51-kilogram weight class, Rodel Sioco of Handumanan defeated Radjie Escalona of Murcia and Jonel Alit of Handumanan defeated Joemarie Lacio of Cauayan in the 52-kilogram weight class, and Tamtam dela Cruz of Murcia defeated Randy Tanodra of Barangay 39 in the 61-kilogram weight class.
