Following the recent killing of Barangay Captain Remia Prevendido-Gregori of Iloilo City’s Mandurriao district, Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III recently reiterated his call for barangay officials to avoid illegal drugs.
The barangay official was the sister of slain drug lord Richard ‘Buang’ Prevendido. She had previously surrendered to police under “Oplan Tokhang” and also has a son currently incarcerated on drug charges.
In addition, her helper, Analee Antipatria, who was also killed during the incident, was said to be linked to illegal drugs through Prevendido-Gregori.
“To those who are involved in illegal drugs, please refrain,” the mayor urged. “Do not enter that kind of business because once you are there, it will be hard for you to come out.”
“The president told me not to protect anyone who is involved in illegal drugs,” Espinosa added.
