A married couple was rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City yesterday morning after they were allegedly shot by a barangay captain in Barangay Libas, Isabela, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the victims as Jomie and May Janeth Lacio, both residents of the said barangay.
Isabela municipal police chief, Police Chief Inspector Reuben Pajarito, said the suspect, identified as Barangay Captain Roy Pagapang, allegedly broke into the couple’s residence and punched Jomie for no apparent reason.
Pagapang then allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire, hitting Jomie in the chest and May Janeth in her hands.
Pajarito added, police immediately responded to the area, but were unable to locate the barangay captain, who immediately fled after committing the crime.
