Two men from Bacolod City were sentenced to six years in jail in violation of RA 8484, or the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998, after they were found guilty of selling unauthorized internet devices, “wimax.”
According to a radio report yesterday morning, Jarryd Nielsen Villaflor and Michael Ken Ledesma were sentenced last month and each ordered to pay P5,000. The two were arrested in an entrapment operation after being caught selling illegal wimax, a Globe Telecom product.
In a statement provided by Globe Telecom, they reminded customers to only transact with legitimate sellers and distributors or to visit any Globe store to ensure the right customer experience./DGB, WDJ
