One person was confirmed dead, while another was wounded, after riding-in-tandem gunmen opened fire yesterday morning at Purok Cagaycay in Barangay 2, Bacolod City.
Police identified the fatality as 22-year-old Reymel Saldua, Jr., a resident of Purok Sto. Niño in the said barangay; while the wounded was 21-year-old Edmar Descutido, a resident of Purok Lawayan in Barangay Banago.
Police Station 2 commander, Police Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, said the victims were seated at a bench with friends when riding-in-tandem gunmen, wearing facemasks, opened fire with .45 caliber firearms.
Saldua was struck in the neck and arm, while Descutido was hit twice in the chest.
Saldua was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment, but was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Descutido, meanwhile, was brought to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.
Estopa said they are presently eyeing past grudges and illegal drugs as possible motives./DGB, WDJ
