During his Independence Day address at the Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod City earlier this week, Negros Occidental Board Member Valentino Miguel Alonso called on today’s “modern heroes” to “rekindle the spirit of patriotism.”
He listed today’s heroes as “men in uniform fighting for freedom to a common family working hard to provide food on their table to the teachers going in far-flung areas to provide quality education to all men and women in public service.”
The Kagayon Dance Troupe also performed during the event, along with the Negros Occidental Singing Ambassadors and the Negros Occidental High School brass band leading in the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.
Provincial officials and employees, national government agencies, non-government organizations, and multi-sectoral groups were among those in attendance./WDJ
