In response to viral social media posts suggesting a spate of killings were taking place in Bago City, the city government yesterday released a statement assuring the public there is no “serial killer” roaming the city.

According to the post, a mentally ill person was roaming the city and stabbing people.

Bago City police visited one of the alleged victims in the city’s Purok Esmerald and found no such incident took place.

Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo appealed for local residents to practice self-restraint when sharing and posting information on social media.

He also urged everyone to be prudent on what they read and share on social media, adding, the city is a “very peaceful community.”

Yulo has also requested residents to contact the city’s police station at 461-0166 for any clarifications./DGB, WDJ
