The Iloilo City Public Safety Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) and Local Economic and Enterprise Office (LEEO) have begun clearing operations at the Iloilo Terminal Market.
PSTMO head Jeck Conlu explained, clearing operations are necessary in order for “customers and vendors [to] identify where are the loading, unloading, and parking areas; and entrance and exit points.”
The process will take about a month to complete.
He said the agency will continue to monitor the situation following the operations to ensure sidewalks remain free of obstruction.
“We are planning to do it [the] whole year-round,” Conlu said. “We will create a team that will monitor every day.”
Last month, Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III ordered renovations at the said market.
During a subsequent visit, the mayor called on LEEO head Jose Ariel Castañeda and City Engineer Roberto Divinagracia to install additional lights inside and outside the market, renovate comfort rooms, and conduct a regular de-clogging of drainage systems./WDJ
