The remains of 34-year-old Angelo Camen Claveria of Cabatuan, Iloilo, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) whose body found last month in a septic tank in Hwaseong City, South Korea, are scheduled to return to Iloilo on Sunday, May 27.

Following the discovery of his remains, Claveria’s mother called on the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-Region VI to hasten the repatriation of his body.

Claveria had been reported missing since 2016. His family sought assistance earlier this year in February.

The Department of Foreign Affairs consular office in Iloilo City said South Korean police are speculating the incident was a murder, with another OFW tagged as a person of interest.

“The Philippine embassy is not releasing the identity of the prime suspect so as not to preempt the ongoing investigation of the South Korean police,” affirmed Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Raul Hernandez.

“South Korean authorities believe that the suspect is already in the Philippines,” he added.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go is expected to attend the wake on Sunday.
