Bacolod City looks to national government for funding

The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod recently authorized Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia to negotiate with the Department of Finance for funding, particularly the medium term development fund, to help support various city projects.
“This is just an exploration of finding funds for these major projects,” explained City Councilor Caesar Distrito.
Among the projects considered include the developing the Progreso Village relocation site; Bacolod City College enhancements; construction of the Bacolod MassKara Coliseum; various road and bridge projects; establishing south and east transportation terminals; and setting up public safety solution, which include traffic surveillance, virtual checkpoints, among other items.
Distrito referred to them as “flagship projects.”
“Once these materialize, they will certainly change the landscape of Bacolod,” he affirmed./WDJ
