Barangay officials reportedly linked to illegal drugs win
Three of the four Iloilo City barangay officials with reportedly links to illegal drugs were declared winners following the recent barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
Barangay Bakhaw Captain Remia Gregori won re-election in the Mandurriao district, Barangay Monica-Blumentritt Captain Keith Espinosa won in the City Proper district, and Barangay Kasing-kasing Captain Gemma Calzado won a kagawad position in the Molo district.
Conversely, Barangay Desamparados Captain Noemi Jablo lost in the Jaro district.
Calzado, who was recently named by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, called the tag “totally unfair.”
“I don’t have any idea from where they based their information,” she said.
Meanwhile, Gregori earlier surrendered to police under “Oplan Tokhang” and is the sister of slain drug lord Richard ‘Buang’ Prevendido, additionally, her son is currently incarcerated on drug charges; Espinosa is the wife of Jesus ‘Jingjing’ Espinosa, the supposed right hand to slain drug lord Melvin Odicta; and Jablo’s husband is a known drug supplier in their neighborhood./WDJ
