Talisay City kagawad candidate dies prior to polls

A candidate for Barangay Dos Hermanas kagawad in Talisay City, Negros Occidental reportedly died of a heart attack Sunday evening, prior to yesterday’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

Police identified the fatality as 56-year-old Edwin Jalwin, a resident of the said area.

Talisay City police said, around 6:30 p.m., Jalwin was in the middle of his miting de avance speech when he collapsed.

Police and emergency personnel responded and brought Jalwin to the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Bacolod City, but he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff./DGB, WDJ
