During an interview with Bacolod City media yesterday afternoon, Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo said the Boracay closure should have been done during the off-season, pointing out, April is a “peak season” for vacationers and tourists.
She also noted business owners who depend on tourists to make ends meet.
“They should have been given more time to settle and begin someplace else,” the vice president said.
Robredo added, while she is not opposed to the closure, she did not agree with “the manner” in which the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte carried out with the plan.
