Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday appealed to candidates in the upcoming May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls to exercise “maximum tolerance” as the campaign period heats up.

Leonardia said he hopes there will be no “untoward incident” during the election period, adding he is confident the city is relatively peaceful during election periods compared to other localities.

The mayor has also advised candidates not to use intimidation, saying voters should not support for such candidates.

Leonardia noted it is not a culture for Bacolodnons to become “warmongers.” He added, candidates should remind supporters to show restraint.

The campaign period is scheduled to end on May 12, with election day set for May 14./DGB, WDJ
