The top policeman of Western Visayas will lead the “swim for a cause” at the Iloilo-Guimaras strait today.
Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office VI (PRO-6), will swim together with about 30 other personnel under his office across the 2.5 kilometers Iloilo-Guimaras strait 6:00 a.m. today.
The event is part of the initiative of the Regional Advisory Council to gather funds for the benefit of policemen in Western Visayas who were killed and wounded in action, said Superintendent Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson.
Aside from gathering funds, Malong said that the event will also help promote destinations in Guimaras.
She added that it will raise public awareness on the preservation of clean and safe waterways in the region.
To date, there are already several donors for the event but she refused to disclose the amount of their committed money.
In return, these donors will have to enjoy an island hopping at Guimaras island, Malong said.
Malong hoped that they could gather significant amount of funds so they could help more policemen. (PNA)
