The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is encouraging the public to take part in their upcoming ‘Walk for a Cause’ in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique next week, May 1, combatting child labor practices.

Participants will assemble at the EBJ Freedom Park, located in front of the Provincial Capitol grounds, at 5:30 a.m. The walk begins at 6:00 a.m. and proceeds to St. Anthony’s College.

“Aside from giving significance on the celebration of the Labor Day on May 1, the ‘Walk for a Cause’ will also feature [an] advocacy campaign against child labor,” said DOLE Provincial Director Melisa S. Navarra.

Participants who pay the P250 registration fee will receive a free advocacy shirt. Voluntary donations will also be accepted. Proceeds will be used to buy school supplies and other necessities for child laborers and at risk youth./WDJ
