The remains of a 63-year-old father and his 7-year-old daughter were discovered murdered yesterday morning at Hacienda Pula Kuartel in Barangay Kapitan Ramon, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the fatalities as Antonio Padua and his daughter, April Rean, both residents of the said barangay.

In a radio interview with Barangay Kapitan Ramon Captain Ramon Celebre, he said both victims were found with several stab wounds across their bodies.

Celebre said, after the presumed stabbing, the unidentified suspect set the bodies on fire before escaping.

He also revealed the daughter just celebrated her seventh birthday last Monday.

The barangay captain added, the mother currently works as a helper in Talisay City.

Silay City police, meanwhile, said based on initial interviews with witnesses, Padua and his daughter were the only ones at home when they made the discovery.

They have also yet to determine who is responsible for the murders.

Police added, the victims’ remains will still be subject to scene of the crime operatives examination./DGB, WDJ
