Barangay Mansilingan Kagawad Boy Pico yesterday denied any role behind the appearance of controversial campaign posters associated with next month’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
In a radio interview, Pico said several posters were installed throughout barangay saying, “If you want to work at City Hall? Support Team Love Mansilingan.” However, according to a Commission on Elections memorandum circular, the campaign period polls does not begin until next month, between May 4 and 12.
The barangay official confirmed he is part of Team Love Mansilingan, and is currently running for barangay captain, but denied they posted the campaign materials.
“Politics in the barangay [are] currently heating up,” Pico said. “The posters are all just black propaganda and they were posted by those opposing me.”
While the incumbent kagawad did not name the opposing party, he claimed the opposition hired “operators” from outside the barangay in an effort to bring him down.
Pico added, the opposing party is planning several other “dirty tactics” against him, but affirmed he would only focus during the campaign period.
Election day is scheduled for May 14./DGB, WDJ
