The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and the Bacolod City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) will be holding a fire safety and awareness fora in order to reduce fire incidents, beginning 9:00 a.m. at Purok Lilang in Bacolod City’s Barangay Banago.
Between January and March of this year, the BFP received a total of 69 fire calls, resulting on P1.2 million worth of damages.
According to the BFP, the leading causes of fire include faulty electrical wiring, bush fires, illegal electrical connections, unattended candles and lamps, among others.
Topics expected to be covered during the event include proper and safe use of fire extinguishers, proper use of candles and kerosene lamps, electrical connections, safety tips on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and what to do in case of fire./WDJ
