The Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) revealed they are adjusting their targets for Boracay amid the pending closure of the resort destination, scheduled to begin next week, April 26.
According to the agency, they are awaiting the results of a Department of Environment and Natural Resources carrying capacity study, which is due out on Sunday, April 22.
Last year, the Western Visayas saw around 5.8 million tourist arrivals, with Boracay comprising 34 percent of the amount. This year, DOT-6 said they will be keeping to their initial overall target of 5.5 tourist arrivals./WDJ
